New Markets Tax Credit

We want the New Markets Tax Credit to be as widely and as effectively used in Indian Country as the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. We began this journey by completely deploying a $30 million NMTC allocation between 2008 and 2009. Now we are thinking bigger because we recently received an additional $80 million in NMTC authority.

   Congratulations and well done on your deployments. We are developers in Chicago and we have done two NMTC projects ourselves. It is a great way to create jobs and meet public benefits. We have another Historic Preservation project with NMTCs that we are currently planning that is estimated to create 300 construction and other jobs and about 150 operational permanent jobs.
